Review of Tea: JUNGPANA FTGFOP 1 CL, 2ND FLUSH 2013, DARJEELING
About the Tea Estate: Jungpana is a tiny estate nestled in the hills of the Darjeeling region. This beautiful garden is famous for the muscatel flavor of its teas. Originally planted by the British, the estate passed into the royal hands of the Ranas of Nepal and has been maintained by the Kejriwal family since 1953. The distinct flavor from this estate is a result of the micro-climate on the south side of the mountain where this estate is located.
They use pure china bushes and age-old manufacturing techniques which result in the finest examples of richness in flavor and bouquet that all varieties of Darjeeling teas are renowned for.
Jungpana is a garden of the highest quality in Darjeeling which enjoys the most unique micro climatic and soil conditions. Jungpana has remained the leading quality estate of Darjeeling. It is believed widely that Jungpana teas are also a hit with the royal family of the U.K.
Description: The second collection 2013 Tea Garden Jungpana brought very hilarious tea.The first impression given by this tea is one of uniform delicate wiry leaves which reminds one of China Keemun. The carefully-made leaves are an attractive dark brown with lovely golden tips. The scent is sharp and spicy with a touch of toast and cocoa. The infusion is brilliant, spicy and floral which reminds one of a bouquet of spring Hyacinth flowers. The muscatel taste is pronounced and becomes stronger with a second steeping. This Jungpana makes a rich, full, bracing cup with a flowery finish overlaid by a suggestion of peat and retsina wine; a one-of-a-kind tea that should be tried for its most uncommon characteristics.

Reviews by Čaj Room :
